Rowan begins her run in the early hours of the morning along the streets of St. Paul,Minnesota.
Feeling the onset of a fever, Rowan passes a gaunt priest near the college of St. Thomas.
Lost in the storm, Rowan sees a stately home through the snow.
After passing out, Rowan is rescued by Christian, a young Englishman who lives with his aunt. Rowan realizes he is the young pianist who works for her brother, Ian.
